How does your DNA code control your cells and thus your body?

The only thing that DNA holds the code for is how to make proteins. Your body is just a very complex organization of proteins (structural) as well the products of reactions that are controlled by different proteins (enzymes).





Different recipes for different proteins are constantly being turned on or off. It is really quite too difficult to explain here.





You really can't think of the DNA controlling your body. Proteins run all the chemical reactions that keep you alive. These proteins are able to access your DNA in order to make copies of the recipes in the form called RNA. Think of it as a photocopy of the recipe that can leave the library and go into the kitchen. A cell takes this RNA photocopy and using ribosomes (which are themselves RNA and protein) to make whatever protein that recipes holds the code for. It is really more appropriate to think of DNA as just library books.How does your DNA code control your cells and thus your body?
